Building on Faith Events-Coming this Fall!

Building on Faith Month with Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial is an opportunity for faith communities to serve our community.

Building on Faith Month is supported by Habitat International and Thrivent Member Network–Great Lakes Region. A Thrivent Member Network is a regional group of members committed to supporting The Thrivent Way. Members have access to resources to help create wise financial strategies and make the most of their time, talents and treasures.

September 29th – Winter Readiness Assistance Program for Seniors (WRAPS) Pilot—Help us pilot a new product for Habitat. Winter Readiness Assistance Program for low-income Seniors who can no longer complete or afford the cost of the tasks they need to get their homes ready for winter. A small team of volunteers will clean gutters, cut back bushes and prepare the home’s exterior for winter. Consumers Energy as a partner will complete work indoors such as tuning up the furnace, changing the furnace filter, testing combustible appliances for Carbon Monoxide leaks, and more. The project’s homebase for the registration and orientation will be held at the Samaritas Center on 3145 Russell St., Saginaw, MI 48601.

 October 13th – Samaritas Community Center—Help us get the community center ready for a charter school. Members from 15 faith communities (about 100-150 volunteers) will:

  • Paint the inside of Samaritas Community Center which consists of painting about 15 different rooms/sections of the building,

The project’s homebase for the registration and orientation will be held at the Samaritas Center on 3145 Russell St., Saginaw, MI 48601.
