Without volunteers, the Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity would not exist.
Volunteers are the backbone of the Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity! The success of our affiliate relies on the commitment of our volunteers – a good team of volunteers and a consistent working environment is critical for achieving best results.
We would like to extend a very HUGE thank you to all the volunteers that have helped us with numerous opportunities that we have had in the past months. We hope that everyone had a great experience and will continue to support our ministry.

You’ve made an important decision to be a Habitat for Humanity volunteer. Helping a family obtain a safe, decent and affordable home or repair the home they already live in is a very gratifying experience. And whether you’re accustomed to working in construction, have no experience at all or fall somewhere in between, it’s crucial that the work you do on the job site is done safely.
That’s why the Habitat for Humanity Affiliate Insurance Program has designed an Online Safety Course just for volunteers. This course is an effective training tool for volunteers prior to volunteer day. It’s easy to use and takes just 30 minutes to complete while empowering you with the safety and knowledge you’ll need to be an effective part of your Habitat home build. Upon completion of the online course, the Habitat affiliate you are volunteering for will receive a certificate of completion for their records. First read the Course Instructions and then you’re set for taking the course.

Jobs for Volunteers
Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help build houses each year. If you have no experience but are willing to learn a new skill, that is great! If you have some experience, that is a plus – and if you are a pro, we would love to have you be a crew leader, leading less skilled volunteers.
Before coming in for orientation, please print and complete the combined Volunteer Interest/Skill Survey and the Release and Waiver of Liability forms, found here.
Our construction crew is onsite every Tuesday and Thursday, year round! If you are interested in getting your hands dirty and helping with a home renovation, new home build or an in-home project, this is the group for you! Full days are from 8 am – 4:30 pm, but half days and specialized schedules (including Saturdays) are available upon request. Half day hours are: 8 am – 12 pm, or 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm. No construction experience required, just a will to learn and help!
Non-Construction (Office Work)
Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity also needs volunteers to help with non-construction support tasks, such as: volunteer registration, meal service, eBay sales, office work (clerical, bulk mail, phones, computer), publicity, and transportation of volunteers and materials. Work days are available Monday – Friday. Hours vary depending on task, and are flexible. If you are interested in participating on our Board of Directors or sub committees, please indicate that information on the Volunteer Interest and Skill Survey form.
Saginaw and Owosso ReStores
